Trace Elliot front

OK so a little history (little) about the big green thing that's been abused in the live room by bass players from all over the country.

It's a Trace Elliott 800W valve bass amp and very dangerous - not many amps pull this amount of voltage and as such is quite delicate in many ways.

I got it off a bass guitar tutor many years ago (who was emigrating) so was confident he had looked after it.

Last year it was brought to my attention by a mate that a valve had blown so I got it repaired. The repair didn't last long perhaps as the company didn't investigate the blow properly and only did a surface repair job (then went bust!). 1 of the full set of replaced valves blew again. So I took it to a local amp repairer who did a fine job (although it took a while). I had to import a new transformer from America and this took time and now have a fully reconditioned amp ready for action - second to this I know a lot more about it, how it works and even how important the power lead is to its' performance.  It seems that 15 years in the business there are still some basics for us to all understand.

So many, many thanks to Rod Coleman in Kenilworth who meticulously worked the problem through and if I can recommend an amp repair specialist then it will be him - contact me for his details.
